Who We Work With

Retirement Planning

When people work their entire lives and are used to a steady paycheck coming in, it can be a scary transition when looking towards retirement. Some common questions our clients have during this process are:

  • Will my money last?
  • When should I ideally start collecting Social Security?
  • How should my investments be allocated?
  • What's the best way to generate retirement income?
  • How much risk should I be taking at this stage in the game?
  • What if I or my spouse has a long-term care event?
  • What impact will this have on our savings, income, one another, and our kids?

Our job as financial planners is to help our clients work through each and every one of these issues and come up with a solid, well-thought-out plan that will help provide peace of mind and security.

Special Needs Planning

When a family has a child with special needs, the planning they're going to need to do is often significantly different than it otherwise would be. Depending on the child, the parents may have to provide for them financially for their entire life. A large part of financial planning for special needs is calculating how much money the child is going to need, both down the road (during the parents' retirement) and also once the parents pass away. Integral to this is understanding what public benefits may be available and doing proper estate planning so that these benefits are not jeopardized, as many are "means-tested" (the child can't have more than a certain amount of money in their name, often $2,000). Common questions our clients face are:

  • What will my child do when they age out of public schools?
  • Where will my son or daughter live down the road, especially when we're not around any longer?
  • What estate planning do we need to make sure public benefits are preserved?
  • How much money should we plan on leaving our child, and what is the best way to do this?

These are the types of challenges we frequently help families with. We recognize the idea of planning for a child with special needs can be overwhelming, but have seen time and time again the peace of mind families often experience when they have a plan in place.

Successful Professionals

Many clients we work with have done a decent job of saving, have good paying jobs, and in general are wise with their money. However, they're often not sure if what they're doing is "enough" or if it's the MOST optimal. They also don't always have specific goals they're working towards so need help figuring out and prioritizing what these are. Some common goals and questions we see are:

  • Am I saving enough for retirement?
  • Should I contribute beyond my company's match?
  • Are there other tax efficient ways I can be saving?
  • How much should I be saving for the cost of my child's college and what's the best way to do this?
  • How much life insurance should I have?
  • What's the best type of life insurance policy for my situation?
  • What should we be doing for estate planning?

Every situation is different of course and people have varying goals, concerns, and dreams. Our job as financial planners is to help our clients truly define what their objectives are and help create a road map to achieve them, while avoiding possible pitfalls along the way.
